Modo Yoga is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. It’s a supportive community, a kick-ass workout, and a calming meditation all in one! I leave every class feeling both relaxed and energized, and more able to take on whatever comes my way.
Accompany Rosanna and Amanda on their 3rd annual yoga retreat to BodyHoliday resort in Saint Lucia. Set on a secluded cove of white sand beach at the edge of the Caribbean Sea surrounded by tropical gardens and rainforests, BodyHoliday is the ultimate getaway for body and mind. Recognized as one the finest destination resorts and centre of well being, there couldn’t be a more idyllic corner of the world to escape too.
During this week you will be pampered with a body treatment of your choice everyday, two yoga classes daily taught by Rosanna and Amanda and three healthy meals a day. If you love The Tragically Hip and/or Hip-Opening postures, this lighthearted playful Yang-Yin practice is designed to offer the best of both worlds with a great Canadian Playlist. While Yang invites strength and movements that warm your muscles, Yin invites a deeper stretch that releases tension in the connective tissue, with a focus on the hips! So come for the Hip-openers or come for the music – either way we know you’ll leave with happy hips!
A silently lead practice featuring multi instrumentalist Zach Kellum on pedal steel guitar to help deepen your practice and de-stress. Modo Yoga instructor Don Christensen guides the class by offering pose names and the occasional breath/mindfulness cue as he moves about the room focusing on hands-on assists and adjustments. This approach provides ample space for you to deeply experience the energy and vibration of the long, soothing notes of the instrument and its kinship with your breathing. The hands-on adjustments are wonderful for those new and seasoned in their practice. The pedal steel guitar is perfect for this meditation as some describe experiencing it as an underwater symphony or a feeling of floating. Suitable for all levels. Familiarity with the Modo sequence is an asset.
Meet Don: Don began practicing yoga in 2000 and graduated from the inaugural Moksha Yoga Teacher Training in 2004. In 2007 Don opened the original Moksha Yoga Bloor West location on the north side of Bloor Street, which quickly became a true pillar in the community.
Meet Zach: Zach is songwriter, composer, and a practicing member of the Bloor West Modo community. He considers playing pedal steel a full body exercise and meditation, not unlike yoga. His deeply organic music, creates an immersive sound bath of rhythm and tone.
Join us Thursday evenings at 8:30pm to practice a 60 minute Modo Yoga class alongside the beautiful singing voice of Nicole Duquette.
Modo Yoga Barrie is excited to offer a 6 Week Series that invites you to come breathe, stretch and release in a thoughtful sequence designed to support and strengthen your changing body during this time of incredible transformation. As baby and belly grows, Mama will learn how to modify postures for each stage of pregnancy, connect with baby and build trust for the body through a guided meditation, led by Cass at the begining of each class. Each week will offer variation of postures that allow Mamas to flow with breath, create space, and release built-up tension. Women at all stages of pregnancy are welcome, and no previous yoga experience is required.
Prenatal Classes are offered at a reduced temperature, and Mamas are encouraged to bring a mat, water, a towel or blanket, and comfortable clothing.
Our teacher training is for anyone who is looking to deepen and expand their yoga practice, live and learn in community, have tons of fun and become a 500 hour certified yoga teacher.

Energy Exchangers (EE’s) are an integral part of our studio family – their passion and dedication is what makes our community so special. In exchange for working one 4 hour shift per week, cleaning the studio, EE’s will receive unlimited yoga and lots of other perks!
